Report the incident to the authorities

Notify the local authorities so the child can be protected and so the abuse can stop. It is against the law if you are aware of child abuse, but fail to report it. Child Protective Services Utah Toll free hot-line: 1-800-678-9399. You should also call the local police department.

Common Symptoms of Sexually Abused Children

Behavioral Changes: Aggressive, antagonistic, self-destructive, isolates themselves from others, sexually acting out on others, uncooperative, rebellious, change in appetite, negative attention seeking, running away, truant , or ungovernable.

Emotional Problems: Angry, moody, crying spells, withdrawn, depressed, nightmares, problems with toileting habits, unreasonable, insecure, low self-esteem, drop in grades or school performance, guilt, shame, denial, fears or phobias.

Relationship Problems: Fighting with siblings or parents, lack of appropriate boundaries, difficulty getting along with teachers and friends.
